Energy & Water Expertise

In today’s rapidly evolving energy and water landscapes, knowledge and foresight are critical.

My deep interdisciplinary background in energy and water-specific environmental and socio-economic issues can help renewable and legacy energy firms develop proactive strategies that transform ESG challenges into opportunities for strategic growth.

Let me help your organization redefine its path to sustainable impact and opportunity.

Energy

I have spent four years conducting high-level research on the ESG aspects of major energy projects, energy politics, and enegy-focused development assistance programs.

This research background enables me to anticipate ESG challenges, align communications strategies with evolving standards, and engage key stakeholders on a wide range of energy-related ESG issues.

Water

As water scarcity continues to intensify across the globe, effective water management messaging will be critical for organizations operating a wide range of water-intensive industries.

My deep interdisciplinary background in water management, spanning hydrology to governance, can help organizations develop the communications strategies necessary to navigate water challenges, mitigate water conflicts, and highlight responsible stewardship.

Stakeholder Management

If my extensive energy research background has taught me one thing, its that effective stakeholder engagement can make or break large-scale energy projects. Combining my academic background in energy-related ESG issues and several years of stakeholder management experience, I can help your organization navigate stakeholder concerns and forge partnerships through evidence-backed, strategically aligned messaging that fosters collaboration and aligns interests.

PhD Research

Through my PhD research into the Pangani Falls and Lower Kihansi hydropower projects in Tanzania, I have conducted in-depth analyses of a wide range of energy-related socio-economic and environmental challenges. Including protracted water conflicts, stalled negotiations, endangered species concern, and activist engagement, this research background positions me well to anticipate and research potential project-related challenges, proactively turning possible issues intro strategic opportunities.

This research-driven style of communications forms the backbone of my proactive approach to stakeholder management, allowing me to fluidly distill complex topics into impactful narratives that resonate broadly and hold up to public and academic scrutiny.

High-Level Analysis & Background Research

As a former coach, I know first-hand that you only play as well as you prepare.

I bring the same mindset to my communications work, where I employ the same rigorous research methodologies I utilized in academia to help your organization develop data-driven communications strategies that consistently deliver results.

Sophsiticated Methodology

From large-scale document analyses to stakeholder interviews to successful information requests, I have more than eight years conducting high-level reviews of substantial amounts of data in close cooperation with key stakeholders.

I've taught dozens of master's students on document analysis, discourse analysis, media analysis, and use of information requests.

SWOT & PESTLE

I am familiar with the application of industry-standard analytical frameworks to ESG and PR issues.

At the same time, my ability to supercharge these frameworks by combining them with academic-level research methodologies enables rigorous SWOT and PESTLE analyses backed copious amounts of data.

Rigorous Data Management

With over six years of experience running research projects analyzing massive amounts of data, I understand how to cut through the noise to get to what matters. During my PhD research, for example, I developed an Excel-based data management system capable of handling 9,000+ data points tracked chronologically and across 50+ parameters. This system has been recognized and adopted by colleagues and students at the University of Oslo.

Media & Stakeholder Surveillance

From conducting in-depth analyses of Norwegian media coverage of major energy projects to preparing daily news briefings of Norwegian business coverage, my several years of media surveillance experience has given me a sharp eye for media trends, narratives, and insights that inform my approaches communications strategy and stakeholder engagement.

Oil, Natural Gas & Extractives

Through my oil and gas research, I’ve developed a comprehensive understanding of the ESG dimensions of offshore and unconventional petroleum. From regulatory frameworks to resource management policies, stakeholder conflicts and civil society engagement, my petroleum-related ESG expertise stems from research projects investigating Norway’s Oil for Development initiative, communications strategies within the Norwegian petroleum sector, and the political-discursive landscape of the Appalachian shale boom in the United States.

Through this research, I have gained a sharp understanding of the interplay between ESG, public sentiment, and policy evolution across several key petroleum regions, both onshore and off. This research background prepares well to help organizations craft clear, stakeholder-focused messaging that addresses industry imperatives and community concerns, transcending complex technical, regulatory, and political discourses to craft impactful evidenced-based messaging.
