As a strategic communications professional, I help organizations develop compelling content, build authentic brands, and forge genuine connections with clients, stakeholders, and the public.
Whether developing strategically minded copy or leading targeted media campaigns, I help organizations develop compelling content, build authentic brands, and forge genuine connections with clients, stakeholders, and the public.
I have managed high-profile stakeholder communications initiatives, conducted high-level academic research on the ESG aspects of major energy projects, and led high-impact traditional and digital media campaigns. Along the way, I have garnered over a decade of international experience in project and brand management, stakeholder engagement, content creation, and event coordination.
With a background that spans corporate communications, teaching, and academic research, I specialize in distilling complex issues into easy-to-understand, evidence-driven communications strategies that engage key stakeholders, educate the public, and inspire action.
As managing editor of AmCham Norway’s flagship annual publication, I led all facets of publication development, including budgeting, content production, and distribution to 400+ stakeholders. Featuring 40+ pages of bespoke content – all directly aligned with AmCham’s mission of advancing transatlantic business – the Guide included contributions from 65+ member companies, business leaders, and senior Norwegian and American officials. Upon publication, I spearheaded the Guide’s digital launch, including the design of a dedicated webpage and custom social media content.
The 2019-20 Membership Guide was thematically focused on Norwegian competitiveness and included contributions from US Senator Amy Klobuchar, Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide, and Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.
When Ohio’s restrictive high school sports policies threatened to sideline Congolese refugee Daniel Sumuni, I led a targeted, digital and traditional media advocacy campaign to change the game.
Garnering national media attention and engaging influential stakeholders – including the US Soccer Foundation, the US State Department, and professional athletes – we challenged the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) to adopt a more inclusive policy. Within weeks, the OHSAA adopted new rules that allowed Daniel to play his final season.
My PhD research explores two major Tanzanian energy projects – the Norway-financed Pangani Falls and Lower Kihansi hydropower projects. My PhD dissertation, to be delivered in February 2025, analyzes the significant environmental and socio-economic challenges both projects faced and how these challenges affected the broader Tanzanian-Norwegian relationship.
In doing so, I navigate the complex relationship between energy, development, and environmental and socio-economic concerns – offering insights eminently acutely relevant to those faced by today’s large-scale energy projects.
This research required meticulous planning, close collaboration with archives in Norway and Tanzania, and sophisticated data management. In a six-month period, I reviewed thousands of pages of source material, entering data in a custom, Excel-based system tracking 9,000+ data points across 50 parameters.
With a decade of experience in public speaking and media relations, I bring a dynamic voice to energy, sustainability, and policy discussions. I’ve presented extensively in English and Norwegian on topics including corporate sustainability, energy development challenges, water management issues, and environmental messaging. In addition, I have extensive interview and live television experience.
A notable public speaking highlight was my debate with prominent scholar and bestselling author Jason Hickel. I effectively challenged several of his arguments, including highlighting how radical environmental messaging could alienate the working class in places such as Ohio and Pennsylvania – an argument validated by the recent US presidential election.
